The Artist Way is an empowering book for aspiring and working artists. With the
basic principle that creative expression is the natural direction of life, we will
engage the homeless community of St. John’s UMC in a series of four weeks.
Through this 12 part program to recover your creativity from a variety of blocks,
including limiting beliefs, fear, self-sabotage, jealousy, guilt, addictions, and other
inhibiting forces, participants can replace them with artistic confidence and
productivity. Whatever your spiritual orientation, The Artist Way will resonate in
your creative mind with truth, wisdom, and inspiration.  Artistic ability is not
required!

address on the form.

and Creativity. Listening in the silence, listening in prayer, to the part of our heart
that needs to experience God’s love…God’s unfailing, infinite, healing. We will be
making prayer beads and with those beads you will create your own healing prayer.
If you would like to be a part of this prayer bead experience, please add an
additional minimum price of $5. There is a limited amount of rooms, so please mail

The Cup of Life (Seven Week Lenten Study)
March 4 – April 15 (Fridays)
New Beginnings House of Prayer
Time: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Anyone thirsting for a more intimate and disciplined life of prayer will find a rich
wellspring in The Cup of Life, by Joyce Rupp. Joyce shares with us how the
ordinary cups that we use each day can become sacred vessels that connect us with
life and draw us ever closer to God. She explores how the cup is a rich symbol of
life, with its emptiness and fullness, its brokenness and flaws, and all of its
blessings. This creative guide offers six weekly themes based on different images
of the cup. The open cup, the chipped cup, the broken cup, the blessing cup. . .
each in turn becomes a teacher in prayer. You will pick your cup as we begin this
Lenten journey on March 4. JOIN US! Please have your book with you when you
come on March 4. If you are not able to purchase this book, please contact Marie
Noack at New Beginnings.
Praying the Psalms
Location: New Beginnings House of Prayer
Facilitator: Marie Noack

Join us as we journey through the book of Psalms. Our time together will include a
study of the Psalms and and process of Lectio Divina, together and as we are apart
in our week. You will be given a notebook of material and a psalm book to pray
your daily office with. The offices of our day (morning, midday, evening, night,
etc.) are those times of sanctifying our day. You will be given a psalm book that will
aid you in that journey.

We will also be using Psalms for Praying: An Invitation to Wholeness by Nan
Merrill. Copies will be available at an additional charge to those who do not have
Nan’s book. Please advise at time of registration that you will need her book. This
will be a class time of building community, as well as our spirit. Join us as we
journey together into the power of the psalms…as we learn of them and pray them
together.
